Tribal Grant Finder

A guided way to see which federal grants a tribe likely qualifies for.

Overview

Federal funding for tribes is scattered across dozens of agencies and hundreds of programs. Even well-staffed grants offices spend real time just figuring out what is out there and whether it applies.

The Tribal Grant Finder is a self-service tool from Qalbi.AI. A short questionnaire produces a ranked shortlist of active federal grants a tribe likely qualifies for, with plain-language eligibility notes and concrete next steps. No account, no fees, no data stored unless the tribe opts in.

Why it matters

Most tribal organizations do not have dedicated grants staff, and the ones that do are stretched thin. A guided view of the landscape lets a program director or council member get oriented in minutes rather than weeks.

The tool is intentionally generous on partial matches. It surfaces grants worth verifying rather than silently dropping them, and every match shows the reasoning so leadership can make its own call.

What it does

Capabilities in the box.

  • Guided intake

A short questionnaire covering recognition status, location, funding area, and capacity, with an 'I am not sure' option on every question.

  • Ranked matches

Every active grant is scored and returned as Likely, Possibly, or Unlikely, so nothing is quietly excluded.

  • Per-grant eligibility rationale

For each match, the tool shows why it matched, the biggest caveat, and what would move it from Possibly to Likely.

  • Readiness checklist

A short list of items to line up before applying - SAM.gov registration, resolutions, cost-share planning, and similar.

  • Direct links to official notices

Every match links to the official NOFO or agency page. Results are guidance, not a legal determination.

How it works

The shape of an engagement.

  • 01

    Answer a short questionnaire

A few minutes of questions about the tribe or tribal organization. No account, no login.

  • 02

    See a ranked shortlist

Active federal grants scored against the tribe's profile and sorted by fit, with the verdict visible on every entry.

  • 03

    Get plain-language next steps

For each grant, a summary of what it funds, why it matched, the biggest caveat, and what to do next.

What to consider

  • 01

Guidance, not a legal determination - always confirm against the official NOFO.

  • 02

No answers are stored unless the tribe explicitly opts in.

  • 03

Free for tribes and tribal organizations.

  • 04

Best used alongside internal grants and program staff, not as a replacement.
